 HOLIDAY INN WORLDWIDE ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT CHANGES
 ATLANTA, April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Holiday Inn Worldwide, a

subsidiary of UK-based Bass PLC, today announced the creation of an executive committee of the Holiday Inn Worldwide board, effective May 1, and a series of management appointments designed to meet the changing strategic and operational needs of the business.
 The executive committee, which reports to Holiday Inn Worldwide Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Bryan D. Langton, will be made up of the following members of the Holiday Inn Worldwide board:
 -- Hamish Swan, vice chairman and a director of Bass PLC;
 -- Peter C. Sherlock, a director of Bass PLC and the current chief
 executive of the Bass Leisure Division, who will join
 Holiday Inn in Atlanta as president of Hotel Operations,
 assuming responsibility for owned and managed hotels in the
 Americas region. He also will have responsibility for all
 business activities in the Europe-Middle East-Africa region and
 for Architecture and Design for the worldwide hotel chain;
 -- Michael A. Leven, president of the Franchised Hotels Division
 for the Americas region;
 -- Timothy V. Williams, currently senior vice president, Finance,
 who will be promoted to executive vice president, Corporate
 Services, with responsibility for the Human Resources and Legal
 Divisions, as well as Finance;
 -- Trevor Jones, currently senior vice president, Corporate
 Development, who will become executive vice president,
 Corporate Development;
 -- J. Raymond Lewis Jr., senior vice president, Worldwide Sales
 and Marketing; and
 -- David H. Paulon, senior vice president and managing director,
 Asia Pacific.
 One year ago, Holiday Inn Worldwide restructured operations following a comprehensive review of its business. During the transition period, Langton said it was necessary to have a board with operational responsibility, reporting directly to the chairman.
 "Now that the new organization is in place, and we are seeing the benefits of the restructuring, it is time to establish a system with fewer direct reporting relationships, each with broader functionality," Langton said.
 "The function of the executive committee will be to address strategic issues and focus on adding value to the Holiday Inn brand," Langton said.
 Stuart A. Guest, Robert D. Hill, Craig H. Hunt, Alan C. Parker and Michael J. Rumke remain on the Holiday Inn Worldwide board, in addition to Langton, Swan, Sherlock, Jones, Leven, Lewis, Paulon and Williams.
 Holiday Inn Worldwide is the world's leading hotel chain, with more than 1,600 hotels and nearly 326,000 guest rooms in 53 countries and territories around the world.
