HOLIDAY INN WORLDWIDE/COCA-COLA USA SPONSOR AEROBATIC TEAM
ATLANTA, July 23 /PRNewswire/ -- A unique aerial show, featuring biplanes reminiscent of America's barnstorming days and emblazoned with the trademark colors and familiar logos of the sponsors, Holiday Inn Worldwide and Coca-Cola, headline a weekend of aerial demonstrations by the world's finest civilian aerobatic team.
Airshow '92 starts Saturday at the Naval Air Station Atlanta with various flying demonstrations by military and civilian aircraft including displays by the Air Force Stealth Fighter, the Navy SEALs and a father/daughter wingwalking performance. The four-plane Holiday Inn/Coca-Cola Aerobatic Team, featuring two planes each adorned with the corporations' trademarks, will be one of the main attractions as it twists, turns and swoops through the north Georgia skies. The Holiday Inn/Coca-Cola Aerobatic Team is the only full-time civilian flying team in the country. Last year, the team performed before an audience of more than 8 million in 25 markets throughout the United States and Canada. The demonstration ends Sunday afternoon.
T.J. Brown, team leader and founder of the Holiday Inn/Coca-Cola team, and his three fellow pilots will captivate Georgians as they perform an array of exciting stunts within close proximity to the crowd. Combined with the narrative skills of Bill Vasilovich, the fifth member of the team who provides a knowledgeable and lively description of each team maneuver, the demonstration promises to be one of the highlights of the weekend show.
"There's no better place to work than in the air," said Brown, who has flown more than 125 different types of aircraft and is also president of the International Council of Airshows, the trade organization of the airshow industry. "Flying aerobatics offers an extra dimension to a two-dimensional world, and during the airshow we try to provide as much entertainment, creativity and precision as possible. It'll be fun to watch."
Airshow '92 will be held from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day. Thomas "Hitman" Hearns, the first man in boxing history to win world titles in five different weight classes, is the Honorary Grand Marshal.
