HOGG ROBINSON OF MICHIGAN, INC. EXPANDS TO GRAND RAPIDS

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Hogg Robinson of Michigan, Inc., an international insurance/risk management brokerage and consulting firm based in Boston, has begun operations in Grand Rapids effective Sept. 1, 1993.
"Expanding into Grand Rapids reflects our initiative to establish a strong presence in the business communities of Michigan, which includes the Grand Rapids market," commented Steven D. Davis, president of Hogg Robinson of Michigan, Inc. "We believe that in order to effectively do business in Grand Rapids, we have to BE in Grand Rapids, and we're excited to be a part of this community. This area represents a strong work ethic and value system -- it's analogous to Hogg Robinson's business philosophy."
Hogg Robinson will be consolidating its operations with another large broker that intends to reduce the intensity of its Grand Rapids affairs. "This venture benefits both companies," commented Davis. "But most of all it benefits the clients."
Hogg Robinson has already begun servicing the client base, conducting full-service operations with its eight employees -- all of whom were previously employed with the other brokerage firm. "Retaining employees and continuing a high quality of service for the clients were key in promoting continuity in our new office," Davis explained.
Executive members of the new Grand Rapids team include: Susan Wills, executive vice president, who will serve as manager of operations, and C. Clark Benton, senior vice president, who will be responsible for new business development. Other key personnel include Ron Sheldon, Ioss control/engineering manager, and Brenda Timmer, claims manager. The full-service office will operate independently, but report to Hogg Robinson's Southfield, Mich., headquarters.
"We're enthusiastic about this new venture," said Wills. "We appreciate that Hogg Robinson is committed to providing non-traditional solutions to problems and challenges, focusing on loss prevention and claims management -- it's a true business partnership philosophy."
Hogg Robinson's national manufacturing housing division is one of many divisions that will operate out of the new Grand Rapids office. "Great opportunities exist for this division on the west side of the state because many well-managed parks and dealers are located in this area," Davis mentioned.
Hogg Robinson currently occupies 6,000 square feet of office space in the Ledyard Building, located on Ottawa Street in Grand Rapids.
Hogg Robinson, Inc. is the North American operating arm of Hogg Group, PLC, a London-based brokerage and consulting firm. Hogg Robinson, Inc. is the 11th-largest insurance broker in the world, with more than $200 million in combined revenues, and more than 150 offices and affiliates throughout the United States and the world with key operations throughout Europe and Asia.
