HISTORY BOYS; ..but how long will the love-in last?
DAVID Cameron and No2 Nick Clegg pose at No10 yesterday - as they boast their double act will lead Britain into a "historic new direction".
Their love-in saw them stage a pally show to swap jokes at a press conference. However, there were signs of their uneasy truce as the Tory leader offered to "swallow humble pie" for ridiculing Mr Clegg as "a joke" before the election.
The Deputy PM is one of five Lib Dem ministers in the new Cabinet.
In return his party will back pounds 6billion Tory cuts that could cost hundreds of thousands of jobs and see savage reductions in child tax credit. Mr Cameron claimed the new government would be "strong and stable". Mr Clegg added: "We will show the sceptics who predict it will go wrong that they are wrong."
But Tory chairman Lord Tebbit warned bleakly: "It will not last many years. As they say - marry in haste and repent at leisure."
