HINT UNVEILS 600MBITS/S PCI MASTERING QUAD HDLC CONTROLLER.
The chip provides four full-duplex, very high speed HDLC formatters which support HDLC framing, transparent transfer, and SS7 acceleration mode. Eight programmable DMA channels with HiNT's proven linked-list buffer management hardware descriptor table (to support independent Transmit/Receive channel for each HDLC) are built in. When operating in full duplex mode with all four HDLC formatters, each of the eight DMA channels can operate at up to 75Mbits/s. Mitel compatible TDM mode is also supported.
HC11 is Compact PCI hot swap friendly and also has built-in 8 bit general purpose bus of general control logic so that designers do not have to use separate PCI to local bus bridge. There are also 4 pins that can be configured as chip-select, external interrupt trigger or GIO. PCI Vaux powered PME# power management capability is also available.
With the explosion of Internet traffic in the Public Switched Telephone Networks, the SS7 solution is becoming vital for Internet Service Providers to provide new services, maximize revenues and reduce costs. The SS7 gateway can enable ISPs worldwide to offload data from the congested PSTN by allowing information transfer for call control and enabling long distance toll bypass. SS7 also allows database and billing management for data and voice combination. Such capabilities can offer ISPs the ability to control carrier customization and to provide future growth and expanded IP services such as VPNs, V/FoIP etc.
Designers can connect up to four HC11 together using HiNT's HB1 Zero-Clock-Latency PCI-PCI Bridge to provide PCI load isolation while still maintaining optimized polling capabilities to the HC11.
The HC11, which is packaged in a small 128-pin PQFP, operates at 3.3V and is priced at $15.00 each in 1,000/shipment quantities.
