HILTON HAWAIIAN VILLAGE ON WAIKIKI BEACH WELCOMES GUESTS
HONOLULU, Sept. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The day after Hurricane Iniki,

the 20-acre Hilton Hawaiian Village on the best beach in Waikiki is open and fully operational!
The hotel today issued the following:
The Hilton Hawaiian Village staff was well prepared for the hurricane and all guests and employees were safe and sound during the brief passage over Oahu Friday afternoon.
Today, the sun is shining brightly over Waikiki and all guests are happy to be out on the resort's large beach that was not washed away by the surf. All three swimming pools are clean and fresh and open and the restaurants and lounges are open as well.
Twelve noon Friday, the Hilton Hawaiian Village management team took a precautionary measure and evacuated guests from two of the hotel's four guest towers: the beachfront Ali'i Tower and the world-renowned Rainbow Tower. All guests enjoyed complimentary meals until the storm had passed and Hawaiian music was performed by hotel employees. The guests were very appreciative and felt the hotel was extremely organized and efficient in the evacuation.
"Cleanup at the Village began approximately 5:30 p.m. Friday night, as most of the damage was from water and sand flowing onto the property from the beach. By 7:00 p.m. Friday night, most of the flooding had subsided and staff worked through the night so the hotel's guests would wake up to see our resort beautiful and welcoming," said Peter Schall, general manager of the 2,542-room resort. "I'm extremely proud of our staff for the great effort they have made to bring the hotel fully operational so quickly for our guests' enjoyment.
"Individuals who presently are planning to come to Hawaii and the Hilton Hawaiian Village today or the next few days should feel confident that all is well and that we look forward to welcoming them to our hotel."
The Hilton Hawaiian Village is a world-class resort, located on the best beach in Waikiki, with 20 acres of lush tropical greenery, exotic birds, award-winning restaurants, exciting entertainment with Charo and the Magic of Polynesia, 100 shops and boutiques, and a year-round children's program, all awaiting in beautiful Waikiki!
