HILLSIDE EXTENDS 20-YEAR PARTNERSHIP WITH FIRST DATA

CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital recently renewed its agreement with information systems partner First Data Corporation, Health Systems Group, extending a business relationship which began in 1973. The 95-bed facility, located in Warren, Ohio, signed a five-year contract to license the company's AXIS(TM) system.
"Hillside values its long-term partnership with First Data," said Tom Setz, manager of fiscal services at Hillside. "And in our view, nothing out there provided more functionality per dollar than these products."
Setz noted that the renewal was not made automatically. "We did undergo an extensive vendor search last year, beginning with a field of 28 providers of information systems." The field was narrowed to 10, then further narrowed, before First Data was again selected.
AXIS combines in-house patient care applications with outsourced financials, including billing and statement processing services, in a distributed network environment.
First Data provides healthcare information management solutions and financial services to more than 700 hospitals worldwide. Employing 1,200 people, the Charlotte, N.C., company is one of the largest healthcare information systems vendors in the industry.
Health Systems Group is a unit of First Data Corporation (NYSE: FDC), a provider of high-quality, high volume information processing and related services to the credit card, consumer funds transfer, telemarketing/teleservices, mutual fund, healthcare and cable television industries. First Data Corporation reported net income of $141 million on revenues of $1.2 billion in 1992.
