Arsenal midfielder David Hillier's proposed move to First Division Portsmouth is on the verge of collapse - because the Pompey board have failed to come up with the money.

Hard-up Portsmouth agreed terms with Hillier and set the fee at pounds 300,000.

But manager Terry Fenwick has learned cash for the transfer has not been made available - and the move from Highbury has been put on hold.
