HILLHAVEN ANNOUNCES THE PURCHASE OF 17 NURSING CENTERS

 TACOMA, Wash., Feb. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The Hillhaven Corp. (AMEX: HIL) announced today plans to acquire 17 nursing centers with a total of 1,928 beds for $52.7 million.
 The centers, located in 12 states, are currently operated under lease agreements. The purchases will be financed through existing credit arrangements and are expected to close before Feb. 28.
 "The acquisition of these leased nursing centers will increase the number of centers we have acquired over the last three years to 97, including 81 from National Medical Enterprises Inc.," stated Bruce L. Busby, Hillhaven's chief executive officer. "Their total value is in excess of $350 million."
 Hillhaven is one of the nation's largest diversified health-care providers, operating 415 nursing centers, retirement housing communities and pharmacy outlets in 38 states.
