THURSDAY Billy Connolly's Route 66 ITV1, 9pm Comedian Billy Connolly proves an amiable travel guide and now he fulfills a lifelong dream of travelling the length of the world's most famous highway - Route 66. In a fourpart series, he rides 2,488 miles from Chicago to Santa Monica, getting his kicks on his Boom motor trike.

FRIDAY DCI Banks ITV1, 9pm If you're enjoying The Body Farm and want more grisly but gripping crime drama, then Stephen Tompkinson returns as moody DCI Banks. He first appeared as Peter Robinson's world-weary cop in a two-parter last year, but now we can enjoy six new episodes, split into three cases starting with Playing With Fire.

SUNDAY Spooks BBC1,9pm Spooks fans should make the most of the intrigue of Harry and his team, as this is the last-ever series of the drama. Harry (Peter Firth) starts the first episode on gardening leave but is swiftly back on the Grid in the thick of the action when a Cold War colleague is found murdered.

SUNDAY Downton Abbey ITV1, 9pm One of last year's best dramas returns for eight episodes, taking up the story in 1916. Robert, Earl of Grantham (Hugh Bonneville) feels left out of the war effort while his heir Matthew (Dan Stevens) is home on leave, much to the excitement of Lady Mary. Maggie Smith still has all the best lines.
