 HIGHER EDUCATION PERSONNEL BOARD RELEASES
 SEXUAL HARASSMENT PREVENTION GUIDE
OLYMPIA, Wash., Jan. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The Higher Education Personnel Board (HEPB) has announced today it has completed a book, "Guide to the Prevention of Sexual Harassment," to reinforce the importance of preventing sexual harassment and of providing a comfortable environment for higher education students and employees.
According to HEPB Director John Spitz, this guide culminates a two-year research project by the board staff. While the book is designed as a policy resource for the Washington State higher education institutions, it could be a valuable reference for any employer.
In addition to recommendations on preventing sexual harassment, the manual provides guidance on handling and resolving sexual harassment complaints. It provides a definition and discusses various kinds of sexual harassment, employer liability and investigation procedures.
Sample policies and procedures that could be adopted by an employing agency are included.
Copies of the manual have been distributed to the libraries of community colleges, the regional universities and The Evergreen State College. While supplies last, a single copy of the guide may be requested from HEPB by contacting Meredith Huff, 206-753-3706 or writing to HEPB, 1202 Black Lake Blvd., P.O. Box 40918, Olympia, WA 98504-0918.
