HIGH-SPEED RAIL LEADERS TO DISCUSS DEVELOPMENTS AT NEWS CONFERENCE
 Federal Railroad Administrator Gilbert Carmichael will join industry leaders to discuss advances in high-speed rail transportation at a news conference on Monday, May 18, at 10 a.m. in the South Hall of the Lawrence Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh.
 The event marks the opening of the Ninth International Convention on High Speed Rail, a three-day assembly of over 500 delegates from 10 countries, sponsored by the High Speed Rail/Maglev Association (HSR/MLA).
 Joining Carmichael will be Joseph Vranich, author of the recently published book, "Supertrains: Solutions to America's Transportation Gridlock," and Joseph Kapala, executive vice president of Maglev, Inc. Also on the news conference panel will be: Pennsylvania state Rep. Rick Geist (R-Blair); Robert K. Pattison, chairman of the HSR/MLA and vice president of the engineering/construction firm of Parsons, Brinckerhoff, Quade & Douglas in Herndon, Va.; and G. Donald Gerlach, a partner in the law firm of Reed Smith Shaw & McClay and chairman of the convention.
