HICKOK ELECTRICAL REPORTS $1.2 MILLION CONTRACT

 CLEVELAND, Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- The Hickok Electrical Instrument Company (NASDAQ: HICKA), reported receipt of a $1.2 million contract to supply highly sophisticated automotive diagnostic test equipment to Mazda auto dealerships throughout the United States and Canada.
 Hickok said that it would begin shipping its New Generation Star diagnostic tools to the Mazda dealerships later this month. The instruments will be employed initially to service a new generation of electronic engine controls introduced by Mazda, Hickok said. The instruments could also be adapted to service and diagnose other Mazda automobile electronic systems.
 A Hickok spokesman said that the New Generation Star instruments have made a major contribution to the company's recent sales and earnings growth. The Cleveland-based manufacturer of electronic diagnostic tools and high-technology indicating instruments has reported record sales and earnings for the past two fiscal years. In the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 1993, Hickok earned $1,524,286, or $2.54 per share, on sales of $20,876,002.
 Hickok Electrical specializes in services for transportation industries including development, manufacture and marketing of electronic diagnostic equipment, diagnostics, training and publishing for automotive and marine customers and indicating instruments for aircraft, locomotive and general industrial applications.
