HERTZ EXPANDS GOLD SERVICE TO PACIFIC; OPENS AUSTRALIAN LOCATIONS; STARTS JAPANESE ENROLLMENT

PARK RIDGE, N.J., Feb. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Hertz, which introduced its premium, expedited car rental service -- Hertz No. 1 Club Gold -- in the United States in 1989 and subsequently expanded it to Canada and throughout Europe, is launching the no-paperwork service at eight locations in Australia on April 5.
Hertz No. 1 Club Gold, targeted at the frequent business renter, will represent the first expedited rental service of its type in Australia.
With No. 1 Club Gold service, everything is done in advance for the customer. By means of a master rental agreement signed at the time of enrollment, all paperwork and processing are completed prior to pick up of the rental vehicle. Customers get their car and go. All they need do is show their license. There's nothing to sign.
The locations in Australia will open at airports in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Launceston, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. It will bring to over 250, the total number of Gold Service facilities worldwide.
At the same time, Hertz will launch a drive to enroll new Hertz No. 1 Club Gold members in Japan, a major source of outbound frequent business travelers to other parts of the world.
Membership is available at an annual fee of $50.
"With the opening of locations in Australia, No. 1 Club Gold truly becomes the global standard for speed and quality of service in worldwide car rental," said Brian J. Kennedy, Hertz executive vice president, marketing and sales. "For the frequent business traveler, whether in North America, Europe or the Pacific, enrollment in Gold brings access around the world to the fastest rental service available form Hertz."
Hertz, the world's largest car rental company and, now marking its 75th anniversary, the oldest, operates more than 5,000 locations in approximately 130 countries. It has a worldwide fleet of approximately 420,000 vehicles.
