HERE'S HOW TO WRAP THOSE UNWIELDY PACKAGES

CLEVELAND, Dec. 1 ~PRNewswire~ -- A mountain of unwrapped gifts is staring you in the face, and you're all thumbs ... Sound familiar? According to Scott Halm of American Greetings, help is on the way thanks to a variety of time-saving products and simple gift wrapping techniques.
"Gift bags offer one of the easiest solutions," Halm said. "They're perfect for wrapping oddly shaped items like stuffed animals, or gifts with several different parts. Just place the items inside and add colored tissue or shredded filling and you've got a great-looking gift."
Gift bags are available in styles to please everyone, from Currier & Ives reproductions to folksy "Americana" designs to adorable teddy bears and cartoon-style characters for the kids.
Gift boxes offer yet another short cut. American Greetings offers several cute, die-cut boxes for toys, including one that folds up to look like Santa's workshop and another with a pop-up candy cane on top.
Wrapping gifts in unexpected ways adds to the fun Christmas morning. "Roll golf balls in a cylinder of tissue, tie ribbons on both ends and in between each golf ball," Halm suggested. "Beverage bags are ideal for holding nutcrackers and other narrow gifts. Extra-large packages can be wrapped with holiday foil door covers. For an easy accent, just open a big honeycomb bell halfway, and secure the edges to the package."
A circular or globe-shaped gift like a soccer ball is often one of the biggest challenges to the "all-thumbs" wrapper. To wrap the soccer ball easily, simple set it on sheets of colored or holly-printed tissue paper, pull the tissue up around it and secure with a ribbon.
"Accessories make it easy to turn plain-looking gifts into masterpieces," Halm said. "Just apply a stick-on decoration or bow, and add a gift tag, and you've got a completed package."
