YOU certainly wouldn't want to get stuck behind Ron Patrick's jet-powered VW Beetle at the traffic lights.

After doing a PhD in mechanical engineering Ron, from California, wanted to put his skills to good use - so he fitted a helicopter jet engine to his car.

Amazingly, the car is perfectly street legal as it still has the original engine up front.

However, if you need to get somewhere very, very quickly, then fire up the jet and make use of all 1350 horsepower.

And if you are hungry when you arrive, you could use the afterburner as a mobile BBQ.
