HENKEL EXPANDS RESOURCES TO SERVE AGRICULTURAL CHEMICAL CUSTOMERS

 CINCINNATI, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Henkel Corporation today announced that it has expanded its resources in technical service, manufacturing and customer service to meet the growing needs of its agricultural chemical customers.
 The expanded resources include a new laboratory designed specifically for the development of agricultural formulations, additional manufacturing capacity at two plants, and increased personnel to speed responses to customer requests.
 "The new laboratory, located at Henkel Corporation's Cincinnati Technical Center, is equipped to make experimental size batches of crop protection and household pest control chemicals," said Roger H. Garst, technical manager for agricultural chemicals of Henkel Corporation's Emery Group.
 "Among the formulation types capable of being produced are: water- dispersible granules, wettable powders, liquid flowables, emulsifiable concentrates and concentrated emulsions."
 Equipment in the new Henkel agricultural chemical laboratory includes: 4-inch air mill, hammermill, 2 and 8-quart twin-shell blenders, 16-inch pan granulator, fluid bed drier, ATTRITOR(R)(See Note) and particle size analyzer.
 Henkel also announced earlier manufacturing investments to serve customers in the agricultural chemical market. At the Cincinnati plant, ester production facilities have been retrofitted to meet the growing demands for methyl esters. At Cedartown, Ga., alkyl napthalene sulfonates are now being produced with new, state-of-the-art reactors and control systems.
 Henkel Corporation's Emery Group has appointed Matt Schwan as business manager, performance products. Until recently, Schwan had been marketing manager for Henkel Corporation's Textile Chemicals Division, located in Charlotte, N.C. He joined the Emery Group in 1978, and has held positions in project engineering, sales engineering, plant management, and business analysis before his asn?ment with the Textile Chemicals Division.
 Reporting to Schwan will be Jane Mueninghoff, market manager for agricultural products. Mueninghoff will focus her efforts on meeting the needs of agricultural chemical manufacturers.
 "Henkel's investments in technical and manufacturing facilities to service customers in the agricultural chemical market are designed to meet the needs for years into the future," said Mueninghoff. "Also, we have an organization to fully service our agricultural customers."
 The extensive product line for agricultural applications includes surfactants, which act as emulsifiers, coupling agents, dispersants, wetting agents, solubilizers, and defoamers, along with a broad range of natural fatty chemical based crop oils, solvents, foam markers, and fermentation aids.
 The technical staff at the new Cincinnati laboratory is ready to work with customers to solve specific application problems, and assist in developing custom formulations.
