HELPMATE ROBOTICS INC. ANNOUNCES AN INCREASE IN BACKLOG OF RENTAL ORDERS.

DANBURY, CT--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 9, 1996--HelpMate Robotics Inc. (NASDAQ: HELPU, HELP, HELPW) announced today that its current backlog of rental orders has increased from the nine reported in its prospectus dated January 31, 1996 to seventeen with a potential to increase annual rental income by $500,000. The Company's backlog stands at $760,000 in purchase orders for its HelpMate(R) robots and is expected to increase as orders are pending.

"The Company is quite pleased with the progress it has made in the past two months since completing its initial public offering," said Joseph F. Engelberger, Chairman of the Board of HelpMate Robotics Inc. (HRI). "We have doubled our sales force and will be adding and training additional sales and service staff in the near future. We expect our backlog of orders to purchase and rent HelpMate robots to increase accordingly. Health care facilities that have seen our product are quite enthusiastic about its cost-saving features and guarantee of no risk."

"In the Orient, we have Yaskawa Electric Corporation, which is also one of Japan's largest manufacturers of industrial robots. In Europe, we are working with Otis Elevator Company, European Transcontinental Operations, which is training the sales staff for all of Europe and the Near East."
