HELP ALISON EAT HER SWEET HAT.

SUGAR BOWL: Should you ever threaten to eat your hat, make sure the milliner is Alison Tod.

The hat-maker, better known for sending her headpieces down the catwalk on half-naked men, has designed an edible confection to celebrate Abergavenny Food Festival this weekend.

Made with spun sugar, the hat will be displayed at the town hall today before Tod takes a bite at 10.30am and offers it to the crowd.

"It's made with decorated spun sugar, " she said. "I put grease-proof paper over one of the wooden blocks we usually use as a base to make hats, and then put the sugar on top."

She admits to being a hopeless cook and says she was helped by expert baker Andrea Parsons - "she's a red head with a shop called The Ginger Tart" - and The Bear Inn in Crickhowell.
