Thomas D. Wilson, president of Helian, said, "President Clinton has made the high price of health care the focal point of a national effort to provide good quality health care at less cost. I'm pleased to report that Helian has found a way to do just that within the medical services niche it occupies -- and, at the same time make money for our stockholders. I truly believe that Helian is well-positioned to assist President Clinton's effort in the coming years while we provide good returns to our stockholders."
Wilson continued, "During the year just past, our historically unbroken uptrend in patient visits continued. We were able to continue to grow our existing businesses by attracting additional employer clients, by broadening the medical services provided to occupational patients, and by increasing the complexity of surgical procedures performed at our surgical facilities."
Helian Health Group Inc. is a progressive medical services company. Helian is dedicated to solving the major health problem that confronts the United States today -- namely, lowering the high cost of medical services. To this end, Helian specializes in two modern methods of providing health care:
Surgery Operations: Helian operates four surgical facilities and is in the process of purchasing or developing two more. One of the nation's leading ambulatory surgery centers (Surgecenter of Palo Alto, Calif.) is operated by Helian. Late last year, the company opened a second ambulatory surgery center in Northridge, Calif.; purchased a third in Lodi, Calif; and is developing a fourth center in Salinas. Helian is actively introducing new-concept surgical hospitals to the medical community. The first -- the Recovery Inn(SM) of Los Gatos, Calif. -- opened June 1, 1992. The second -- the Recovery Inn(SM) of Menlo Park, Calif. -- opened in December 1992. Both of these Recovery Inns(SM) will enable patients to undergo surgery and to recuperate in a hotel-like setting -- at a low cost to the payor.
Occupation Health Care: Helian is the dominant provider of occupational health care in Tucson, Ariz.; Fresno, Calif.; and Atlanta, Ga. The company has more than 10,000 employer clients and attends to more than 250,000 patient visits per year.
