 PITTSBURGH, Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Helen P. Pudlin has been named general counsel of PNC Bank Corp. (NYSE: PNC), Thomas H. O'Brien, chairman and chief executive officer, announced today.
 Pudlin has been managing general counsel for PNC Bank Corp., with responsibility for corporate litigation and managing legal services for the trust and mutual funds businesses and the Philadelphia market since last year. She joined PNC Bank, Philadelphia, as general counsel in that market in 1989.
 "Helen has made a significant contribution to PNC Bank. In her new position as general counsel, she will manage our centralized legal staff, oversee all of our legal functions and serve on the management committee of the corporation," O'Brien said.
 Prior to joining PNC Bank, Pudlin had been a partner in the law firm of Ballard, Spahr, Andrews & Ingersoll in Philadelphia.
 Pudlin received her bachelor of arts, master of science and juris doctor degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and was a lecturer at its law school for several years.
 She is a member of the American Bar Association and its antitrust, litigation and business law sections; the Federal Bar Association, where she was co-chair of its health law committee; the Pennsylvania Bar Association, where she is a member of the Judiciary Committee and served on the House of Delegates; and the Philadelphia Bar Association, where she has been a member of the board of governors, Federal courts committee, business law section and women's rights committee.
 She has co-authored chapters in "Review of Antitrust Laws and Procedures," published by the ABA litigation section; and "Criminal Antitrust Litigation Manual," published by the ABA antitrust section; and has spoken at professional seminars.
 Pudlin is a member of the Board of Ethics of Philadelphia, the Community Legal Services, the Academy of Natural Sciences, Lankenau Hospital and the Lankenau Hospital Foundation, the Board of Managers of the University of Pennsylvania Alumni Society, the Board of Advisors of the Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia, the Committee of Seventy and the Forum of Executive Women.
