 HEISTAND NAMED SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT
 FOR MARKETING AT ELECTRONIC ARTS
SAN MATEO, Calif., June 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Jack Heistand, a vice president and publisher at Hearst Magazines, has been appointed senior vice president for marketing at Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS), the software company announced today.
Heistand will succeed Bing Gordon, who was recently appointed as senior vice president for entertainment production at Electronic Arts.
Heistand, 39, will manage marketing efforts for Electronic Arts, a leading publisher in interactive entertainment. His responsibilities will include product marketing, advertising, promotion, public relations, direct mail and research.
"Jack Heistand will bring a unique set of experiences to Electronic Arts with his successful track record in the magazine publishing business. We look forward to the integration of his new ideas in our rapidly growing business," said Larry Probst, president and chief executive officer for Electronic Arts.
While at Hearst as publisher of magazine development, Heistand established the Home Video and Licensing operation and was additionally responsible for joint ventures, acquisitions and four separate publications. He spearheaded the recently launched SmartMoney magazine, a joint venture between Hearst and Dow Jones.
He previously served as vice president for consumer marketing at Esquire Magazine Group Inc., publishers of Esquire and New York Woman. Esquire was acquired by The Hearst Corp. in December 1986 and Heistand's responsibilities with the magazine continued, including expansion of the business internationally.
Before entering publishing, Heistand was a product manager at The Quaker Oats Co., where he managed consumer- and trade-driven franchises within the company's largest division and product lines.
"We are excited to be able to add an executive with his management and business-building track record to our team, and look forward to the many contributions he will make to our organization," said Probst.
Heistand holds a bachelors degree from Whitman College of Walla Walla, Wash., and a masters degree in management from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
Electronic Arts is a worldwide leader in developing, publishing and distributing entertainment software for video games and computers.
