HEARx TO EXPAND HEARING CARE SERVICES TO AARP MEMBERS
 WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Paul A. Brown, M.D.,

chairman of HEARx Ltd. (NASDAQ: EARS) announced today that HEARx has reached an agreement with AARP Pharmacy Service to expand its program of hearing care services to the members of AARP in Richmond, Va. Currently, HEARx operates Hearing Care Centers at AARP Pharmacy Services in Tampa/St. Petersburg, Fla. and Portland, Ore. AARP Pharmacy Service operates pharmacies in thirteen locations.
Brown stated that AARP members in those areas will be offered an opportunity on a walk-in basis not only to purchase hearing aids and various assistive listening devices for the hearing impaired, but, in addition, will be able to receive diagnostic procedures related to the ear that have been requested by their personal physician. Brown pointed out that national statistics prepared by the U.S. government reveal that 25 percent of the population over the age of 60 is hearing impaired. Based on patient demography, he noted that AARP members nationwide are purchasing approximately $300 million of hearing aids annually.
HEARx Ltd., the nation's largest network of independent auditory vestibular rehabilitative centers, has comprehensive state-of-the-art facilities offering a full range of diagnostics and rehabilitative services, and currently operates 30 locations in New York, Florida, Georgia and Oregon. HEARx currently has strategic alliances with Humana Health Care Plans, Aetna Health Care Plans of New York and Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing (3M).
