HEALTHSOUTH EXPERIENCES MORE THAN 1,100,000 OUTPATIENT VISITS

 BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Jan. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- HEALTHSOUTH Rehabilitation Corporation (NYSE: HRC) today announced that its outpatient rehabilitation centers, rehabilitation hospitals and specialty medical centers experienced a record year in 1992.
 Visits to HEALTHSOUTH outpatient centers increased by 43 percent (to 1,116,000 visits) as compared to 1991. Similarly, HEALTHSOUTH's inpatient facilities (freestanding rehabilitation hospitals and specialty medical centers) experienced a 40 percent increase in patient days to 272,000.
 "This record utilization of HEALTHSOUTH's facilities," said Richard M. Scrushy, chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer, "generated unaudited net revenues of $407,000,000, an increase of 81 percent as compared to 1991. Unaudited gross revenues for the same period were
$591,100,000. HEALTHSOUTH will release 1992 earnings in the near future."

During 1992, HEALTHSOUTH opened 30 outpatient rehabilitation centers, one rehabilitation hospital and two medical centers.
