HEALTHDYNE REPORTS PRELIMINARY RESULTS FOR SECOND QUARTER 1992

HEALTHDYNE REPORTS PRELIMINARY RESULTS FOR SECOND QUARTER 1992
MARIETTA, Ga., July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Healthdyne Inc. (NASDAQ: HDYN) announced today that it expects to report net income of approximately $3,500 to $3,800, or $.22 or $.24 per share, for the second quarter of 1992.
This compares with second quarter 1991 net income of $636,000, or $.04 per share, which includes a noncash, nonrecurring charge of $2.4 million, or $.16 per share.
In a separate news release issued today, Healthdyne's 67 percent-owned subsidiary engaged in home infusion therapy, Home Nutritional Services Inc. (HNS), (NASDAQ: HNSI), announced it expects to report second quarter earnings of approximately $2,300 to $2,600, or $.20 to $.23 per share, compared with $2,783, or $.24 per share, in the 1991 quarter.
Parker H. Petit, chairman and chief executive officer of Healthdyne, stated, "Our Perinatal Services and Technologies divisions continue to produce significant growth in revenues and profits. However, while Home Nutritional Services is expected to have revenue growth of at least 25 percent over its second quarter revenue for last year, its profits will be lower than anticipated due to start-up costs related to the development of additional Integrated Care Centers and margin pressures resulting from an increase in managed care business during the quarter. HNS is well along in developing a network of Integrated Care Centers where more complex infusion therapies can be delivered. These Integrated Care Centers should begin to produce significant revenues and profits for fourth quarter of 1992.
"We are optimistic that Healthdyne will meet analysts' expectations for earnings of $1.20 per share for the year based on the anticipated performance of our Perinatal Services and Technologies divisions and the return of HNS to its historical profit levels as a result of the expected contribution from the Integrated Care Centers. We will continue to keep our shareholders advised as the third quarter develops."
Healthdyne is a national provider of high technology home health care medical services and products, which include home obstetrical care through its Perinatal Services division, home infusion therapy through its partially owned Home Nutritional Services subsidiary, and high technology health care products through its Technologies division.
