HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS KIMBERLY QUALITY CARE, CHRONITECH SIGN UNIQUE, $25 MILLION AGREEMENT

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- On Friday, Aug. 26, 1993, Chronitech Homecare Services Inc., a sister company of Castro Village Pharmacies, and Kimberly Quality Care, the nation's largest private home health care company, signed a joint venture agreement valued at approximately $25,000,000 per year.
A significant component of the agreement calls for Chronitech to provide oral medication prescriptions to Kimberly Quality Care's HIV patients in San Francisco and West Hollywood. The program will be headed by David Kessler, the founder and president of Project Angel Food and director of AIDS Programs of Kimberly Quality Care.
Chronitech will also provide infusion supplies and pharmaceuticals to Kimberly Quality Care pharmacies in the Western United States.
The agreement was signed by Kimberly Quality Care Western Division President Michael J. Firneno and Chronitech founder and President Paul A. Morabito in Chronitech's San Francisco headquarters.
Kimberly Quality Care, an $800-million revenue company, is first and foremost a nursing care provider whose homecare infusion program is a part of a necessary continuum of care needed by people living with AIDS. This is unlike the numerous other home infusion programs that often drop service to patients whose private insurance coverage lapses to government plans.
The Boston-based Kimberly Quality Care has more than 400 offices in 41 states and Canada providing a full range of services including home care, supplemental staffing and infusion therapy. Kimberly Quality Care was recently acquired by the Westbury, N.Y.-based Olsten Corp. (AMEX: OLS). The company will soon be operating under the name Olsten Kimberly Quality Care.
Chronitech currently operates two retail specialty pharmacies in San Francisco's Castro District and in the Western Addition. Supported by the McKesson Drug Co., Chronitech opened its first Castro Village Pharmacy on World AIDS Day last year.
