HEALTHCARE COMPARE CORP. AND EMPLOYEE BENEFIT PLANS, INC. ANNOUNCE FURTHER ENHANCEMENT TO STRATEGIC ALLIANCE

 MINNEAPOLIS/DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- James C. Smith, president and chief executive officer of HealthCare COMPARE Corp. (NASDAQ: HCCC) and William E. Sagan, president, chief executive officer and chairman of Employee Benefit Plans, Inc. (NYSE: EBP) announced today an enhancement of the strategic alliance between COMPARE and EBP HealthPlans, Inc. whereby COMPARE will be providing utilization management (U/M) services to EBP HealthPlans' clients on a national basis.
 Smith noted this strategic alliance is positioned to integrate COMPARE's U/M services and The AFFORDABLE Medical Networks with EBP HealthPlans' administrative, stop-loss insurance, distribution, and other health plan services. The combined effort of COMPARE and EBP HealthPlans is a response to emerging opportunities via national health care reform and will result in a stronger, higher quality product offering for EBP HealthPlans' clients.
 Sagan commented that the expanded relationship with COMPARE will provide EBP HealthPlans' clients and prospects with the benefit of consolidated U/M and PPO services on a national basis. In addition, COMPARE has the medical and technical capabilities to provide EBP HealthPlans' customers with the highest quality, most cost effective utilization review and case management services.
