HEALTH SYSTEMS GROUP SIGNS INDUSTRY REMARKETER AGREEMENT WITH IBM
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Health Systems Group, a unit of American Express Information Services Corporation, has entered into an Industry Remarketer agreement with IBM (NYSE: IBM).
Under the terms of the agreement, Health Systems Group will sell the IBM(R) RISC System/6000(TM) family of computers as a platform for its UNIX-based SAINT(R) EXPRESS hospital information system. RISC System/6000 computers employ AIX(TM) (Advanced Interactive Executive), the IBM version of UNIX.
"We are pleased to offer our clients the RISC System/6000," said Health Systems Group President Larry Ferguson. "It is an excellent IBM product which complements our SAINT EXPRESS software and gives our clients yet another attractive option for their information management needs."
IBM Vice President and Mid-Atlantic Area General Manager Ken Thornton said, "We at IBM are excited about this announcement and look forward to working with American Express in providing solutions to our customers' business problems." Director of Health Industry Marketing Scott Roeth added, "We are very pleased that American Express Health Systems Group has chosen the IBM RISC System/6000 platform on which to offer its healthcare solutions. This underscores our industry strategy of offering our customers and prospects a wide range of solutions across a variety of IBM hardware platforms."
Designed to work efficiently and transparently in open, multi-vendor environments, the RISC System/6000 is an excellent choice for healthcare facilities. Open systems design makes it easy to integrate existing in-house systems and implement additional systems as needed. The series includes a range of hardware well suited to the hospital environment -- from the Model 320H, a desktop system which accommodates up to 135 users, to the Model 550 for as many as 225 users. The multitasking, multiuser AIX operating system provides features such as a command- driven interface, windows, system management tools and on-line documentation.
Health Systems Group is a unit of American Express Information Services Corporation (ISC), a leading provider of high-quality information processing and communications services to the following industries: banking, payment products, mutual funds, healthcare, telecommunications and cable television. ISC is a wholly-owned operating unit of American Express Company.
