HCPro acquires Brownstone's healthcare management publications.
The acquired newsletters include: HIPAA Security & Privacy Staff Trainer, Health Information Compliance Insider, HIPAA Security Compliance Insider, Laboratory Compliance Insider, Managed Care Contracting & Reimbursement Insider, Ophthalmology Contracting & Reimbursement Insider, Radiology Administrator's Compliance & Reimbursement Insider, Credentialing & Peer Review Legal Insider, and Ambulatory Surgery Compliance & Reimbursement Insider. The looseleaf products are in the health information management and managed care sectors.
In addition to further penetration into existing markets, HCPro said the deal opens three new markets, including laboratory, radiology and managed care compliance. The Brownstone deal is HCPro's largest since the management-led buyout of the company's founders that occurred in December 2002. In that deal, The Riverside Company (New York) assumed a majority interest in HCPro.
The purchase of the Brownstone titles is HCPro's fourth deal this year. The three earlier deals include the acquisition of Residency Program Director's Alert newsletter from PubWorld (Naples, FL), ePharmaceuticals from Medical Broadcasting (Phil., PA) and e-Quipping (Springfield, MO) from company management.
