HCL Corp forays into health care.

HCL CORP announced its diversification into the fast growing health care services market on Thursday saying it would start by setting up a network of outdoor patient clinics. The company has created an equity pool of ` 1,000 crore to invest in the business, which will be called HCL Healthcare. It aims to cover 20 million people by 2020.

HCL Healthcare will eventually operate across the health care services spectrum. It announced its first subsidiary HCL Avitas, which will set up multi- specialty clinics. The company already runs two clinics in Noida and Gurgaon.

Avitas Harish Natarajan, chief executive officer, HCL Avitas, said that the company aims to treat 50,000 patients daily. HCL founder Shiv Nadar said that education and health care will be key enablers of the country's progress and HCL wants to contribute to this journey.
