HBA recognizes the best in innovative packaging.
This year, the Grand Award went to La Prairie's Silver Rain perfume. Category leaders included: cosmetics, limited distribution: Goldie's CD cosmetic compact; cosmetics, mass distribution: P&G's Cover Girl Outlast All Day liquid makeup; skin care, limited distribution: Estee Lauder's ReNutriv Revitalizing Comfort Cream; skin care, broad distribution: P&G's Olay White Radiance; fragrance, limited distribution: La Prairie's Silver Rain; fragrance, broad distribution: Revelation Perfume's Stoked for Girls/Wired for Guys; personal care, limited distribution: 4mula's The 4mula Bar Box; personal care, broad distribution: Lake Consumer Products' Beyond Fresh Intimates; professional, hair care: Bumble and bumble's Bb. Treatment Backbar System; professional, personal care: Dermalogica's Daily Resurfacer.
Held concurrently was the fourth annual HBA Industry Awards dinner, where top industry executives and leaders were recognized for their significant contributions to the cosmetic, personal care and fragrance industries. This year featured a new addition to the awards program--the International Technology Awards.
The Lifetime Achievement Award in Marketing was presented to John Demsey, global brand president, Estee Lauder. In recognition of his more than 25 years of progressive R&D management experience in the cosmetic industry, Alan J. Meyers, senior vice president, research & development, L'Oreal USA Inc., received the 2005 Lifetime Achievement in Product Development Award. The Packaging Executive of the Year Award was bestowed upon Lorraine Ahart, vice president package development at Victoria's Secret Beauty.
The product development team for Lancome's Resurface Peel received the New Product R&D Technical Team Award for their work on the skin care product touted for enhancing skin radiance, improving skin texture and tone and minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Members of the technical team include Isabelle Hansenne, vice president corporate R&D skin care; Donna McCann, director corporate R&D public liaison; Hani Fares, director corporate R&D skin care; and George Rivera, senior scientific corporate R&D public liaison.
HBA also introduced a new category, the International Technology Awards. Lipotec won the New Technology award for its Eyeseryl technology, while National Starch won the Technology Marketing award for its dissolvable films technology.
