HAYES WHEELS INTERNATIONAL'S AUTOKOLA JOINT VENTURE RECEIVES $7 MILLION CONTRACT WITH OPEL

 ROMULUS, Mich./PRAGUE, Czech Republic, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Hayes Wheels International (NYSE: HAY) announced that its Autokola joint venture in the Czech Republic has received a contract valued at more than $7 million annually to supply GM Opel with fabricated steel wheels for the 1996 model year Opel Vectra. The announcement was made at the joint venture's closing ceremony in Prague, Czech Republic on Oct. 26, 1993.
 According to Ron Cucuz, Hayes Wheels president and chief executive officer, Autokola will manufacture fabricated steel wheels in its Ostrava, Czech Republic, facility and ship them to Opel's Vectra assembly plant in Russelheim, Germany.
 The Opel agreement marks the second major Western European contract for Autokola. The first contract, valued at $12 million annually, was announced with BMW in March 1993. According to the agreement, Autokola will supply BMW with fabricated aluminum wheels for the 1996 model year. Autokola also supplies the Volkswagen/SKODA joint venture and all other light- and heavy-duty producers in the Czech Republic.
 "We see tremendous opportunity for sales of fabricated steel and fabricated aluminum wheels to both Western and Eastern Europe from the Autokola joint venture," Cucuz said. "This joint venture combines the largest independent supplier in Eastern Europe with high technology from Hayes Wheels in the United States. The new company will benefit from our strong customer relationships in Western Europe and worldwide. We are very pleased that Autokola will be a new supplier to both BMW and Opel."
 Autokola is a joint venture between Hayes Wheels International, Inc. and Nova Hut a.s. Ostrava to manufacture fabricated steel and fabricated aluminum wheels in the Czech Republic for sale throughout Eastern and Western Europe. Hayes Wheels and Nova Hut signed a joint venture agreement in February 1993, and closed on the joint venture on Oct. 26, 1993.
