HAUGHEY HAUNTS US.

Byline: Pat Flanagan

THE ghost of the hypocrite Haughey loomed large last Tuesday when Brian Lenihan's vomitinducing call to the poor and the pensioners to do their "patriotic duty".

Does he forget it was these people who kept the country afloat at a time when the leader of his party told them to tighten their belts while he swanned around in Charvet silk shirts?

It brings to mind what Samuel Johnson said about patriotism being "the last refuge of the scoundrel".
