 HAUGEN NAMED ALLERGAN CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
 AND ELECTED TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
 IRVINE, Calif., April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Allergan Inc. (NYSE: AGN) announced today that Richard M. Haugen, president, Worldwide Eye Care Marketing, Sales, and Operations, has been named corporate executive vice president and chief operating officer. In addition, Haugen has been elected to the board of directors. He will report directly to President and Chief Executive Officer William C. Shepherd.
 As chief operating officer, Haugen will be responsible for Allergan's ongoing eye care business operations. In addition to his current responsibilities for worldwide eye care marketing, sales and operations, Haugen will also be responsible for the strategic product line groups involving eye care pharmaceuticals, Botox, Allergan Medical Optics (AMO) and Optical/OTC.
 Haugen joined Allergan in 1976 and has served in a number of key management positions, including president of the Americas Region, president of Allergan Optical and president of Allergan Pharmaceuticals. Prior to joining Allergan, Haugen worked for American Hospital Supply.
 A graduate of the University of Southern California, Haugen holds a bachelor's degree in business and a master's degree in business administration. He resides in Irvine with his wife and four children.
