HARSCO CORPORATION SEEKS TO ACQUIRE WAYNE BUS COMPANY ASSETS

HARRISBURG, Pa., Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Harsco Corporation (NYSE: HSC) announced today that it proposes to buy certain assets of the Wayne Corporation, a manufacturer of school buses located in Richmond, Ind., for just over $2 million.
Harsco and Wayne have signed a conditional sale agreement, but because Wayne Corporation filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in August 1992, the transaction is subject to bankruptcy court approval. If the court authorizes the sale, school bus manufacturing and business operations would be transferred to and managed by Harsco's BMY-Wheeled Vehicles Division plant in Marysville, Ohio.
The Wayne Corporation has been building vehicles for the transportation of school students since 1914.
Harsco Corporation is a diversified, international, industrial company headquartered in Camp Hill, Pa. The company's 11 divisions provide products and services for defense, industrial, commercial and construction applications from over 260 facilities in 36 states and 13 countries outside of the United States.
