HARSCO CORPORATION ANNOUNCES NEW VICE PRESIDENT AND TREASURER

 HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Malcolm W. Gambill, chairman and chief executive officer of Harsco Corporation (NYSE: HSC), today announced the election of Barry M. Sullivan to the position of vice president and treasurer of the company.
 Sullivan, 48, succeeds Ronald W. Kaplan, who was recently promoted to executive vice president and president-elect of the company's Plant City Steel Division.
 During his career, Sullivan held various management positions in international banking, prior to becoming treasurer of Varity Corporation LTD in 1985. He joined Alpha-Laval, Inc. as vice president and treasurer in 1989 and then became treasurer of Tetra Laval U.S. Holdings & Finance, Inc. in 1992, upon completion of the merger of Tetra Pak and Alpha Laval. This group is the U.S. holding company of a $9 billion Swedish packaging equipment and machinery corporation.
 Sullivan obtained a B.A. degree from Bucknell University and served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1970.
