HARSCO CORPORATION ACQUIRES SCHOOL BUS MANUFACTURING ASSETS

HARRISBURG, Pa., Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Malcolm W. Gambill, chairman and chief executive officer, Harsco Corporation (NYSE:HSC), announced that the company has acquired certain assets of the Wayne Corporation for the manufacture of school buses.
At the beginning of the year, Harsco had signed a conditional sale agreement with Wayne Corporation of Richmond, Ind., for the purchase which was subject to court approval since Wayne had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy court protection last August. School bus production will be conducted at Harsco's BMY-Wheeled Vehicles Division, Marysville, Ohio, and is to be managed as a complement to the all-terrain five-ton trucks currently produced there for the U.S. Government and international customers.
Commenting on the completion of the purchase, Gambill noted, "In about six months we look forward to introducing a school bus product with the same quality and attention to detail that we built into the five-ton truck we make for our exacting customers in the armed forces. I say this with confidence knowing the high caliber of teamwork and commitment present at the Marysville, Ohio, plant."
Harsco Corporation is a diversified, international, industrial company headquartered in Camp Hill, Pa. The company's 11 divisions provide products and services for defense, industrial, commercial and construction applications from over 260 facilities in 36 states and 12 foreign nations.
