HARRIS PUBLISHING COMPANY ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT APPOINTMENTS

 Chief Operating Officer, Senior Vice President of Production & Operations, Senior Vice President of Finance & Administration Named
 TWINSBURG, Ohio, Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Robert A. Harris, chief executive officer and chairman of Harris Publishing Company, announced three upper management staff appointments today. The company, known for over forty years as the nation's leading compiler, publisher and provider of manufacturers databases on diskette, CD-ROM, print directory and custom data formats, is located in Twinsburg, Ohio. Harris said the following staff appointments were made in accordance with the company's policy of building a viable corporate structure on superior management strength.
 Judith Gombach has been named Harris' chief operating officer. In her current position Gombach is responsible for day-to-day operations of all operating units of the company. She handles the company's financial performance, implementation of superordinate goals and strategic objectives at the operational level, and manages the budgeting process in concert with the senior vice president of finance and administration. Gombach first served as a management consultant to the company for several months. Prior to her present appointment at Harris Publishing Company, she was a senior partner at The Innovative Group, Inc., a management consulting firm. She received her executive MBA from Case Western University and is an advanced management professional of the Weatherhead Professional Fellows, also at Case Western. In addition, she serves on several civic boards, including commissioner of Civil Service and the Mayor's Efficiency Committee. In 1985, she received the SBA "Entrepreneur of the Year" award and is a co-author of "An Entrepreneurial Approach to Significant Change" published in The Frontiers of Entrepreneurship Research.
 Richard Papale has been named Harris' senior vice president of production and operations. In his current position, Papale is responsible for production, compilation, and computer operations for the company. Prior to his present position, he served as director/ publishing operations for the American Automobile Association headquarters. In addition to his extensive electronic publishing and communications background, his experience also includes trade-book marketing and production with Fortune 500 publishers such as Time/Warner. Papale has worked in Europe and the Far East bringing additional scope to Harris' global perspective.
 John P. Fischer has been named Harris' senior vice president of finance and administration. In his current position, Fischer is responsible for all accounting and office administration for Harris Publishing. Prior to his present position he served as full-time MBA and assistant instructor at Case Western University as well. He brings 19 years experience from both the manufacturing and information industries. His areas of expertise include finance, financial reporting, and telephone and information systems design. He has completed a Masters of Business Administration in Finance and Management Information Systems and a degree in Accountancy from Case Western Reserve. He also holds undergraduate degrees in Finance and Engineering from Indiana University.
