HARRIS CORPORATION AWARDED TWO TELECOMMUNICATION CONTRACTS VALUED AT $7.6 MILLION

SAN CARLOS, Calif., June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS) has been awarded two contracts with a combined value of $7.6 million to provide digital microwave telecommunication systems.
Under the first contract, valued at $4 million, Harris' Farinon Division will supply an advanced digital microwave transmission network to Petroleos Mexicanos (PEMEX), Mexico's largest oil company. This is the second Harris microwave system purchased by PEMEX. The new network will carry both voice and high-speed data transmissions among PEMEX plants and offices east of Mexico City and link them with the company's headquarters in Mexico City.
The division also was awarded a $3.6-million contract by Missouri- based Kansas City Power and Light to expand and upgrade the utility's telecommunications network. The network will carry voice and data transmissions, and critical switching information controlling the power substations of the utility, which serves more than 400,000 customers. The contract also includes Harris Farinon's FARSCAN software, which permits remote supervision and management of the microwave network.
Harris Farinon, headquartered in San Carlos, Calif., is part of Harris' Communications Sector. The division is the leading microwave supplier to the private, dedicated network market. It designs, manufactures, installs and services a broad range of analog and digital microwave radios, and multiplex equipment for world markets.
