SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The Harper Group Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: HARG) announced that its board of directors declared a semi-annual cash dividend of 10 cents per share which will be payable March 15, 1993, to shareholders of record at the close of business on Feb. 15, 1993.
The company has paid semi-annual dividends since going public in 1977. "Our dividend payments are based on our strong financial position and estimates of future earnings," said Peter Gibert, president and chief executive officer of the company.
The board of directors also voted to appoint three industry veterans to its executive team. "These additions to our corporate management team will help us leverage our strengths and expand market share, to deliver the highest level of service to our customers, and maximize return to our shareholders," continued Gibert.
Effective Jan. 1, 1993, Jack Edwards will join the company as president and chief operating officer of The Harper Group's North American operating subsidiaries -- Circle Airfreight Corp., Harper Robinson & Co., Sekin Transport International and Max Gruenhut International.
