HAROLD COPPERMAN JOINS DIGITAL'S PERSONAL COMPUTER BUSINESS UNIT L?ES AND MARKETING VICE PRESIDENT

 MAYNARD, Mass., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Equipment Corporation (NYSE: DEC) today announced that Harold Copperman has joined the company as vice president, sales and marketing, for the United States operations of Digital's Personal Computer Business Unit, effective July 26, 1993.
 Copperman, 46, will manage sales and marketing activities for the PC Business Unit in the U.S., including the indirect sales channels (distributors, dealers, etc.), sales specialists, Digital's telemarketing and catalogue sales, and support. He will report to Enrico Pesatori, the vice president and general manager of Digital's Personal Computer Business Unit, headquartered in Stow, Mass., U.S.A.
 "To fulfill the goal of being one of the top PC suppliers in the world, Digital is strengthening its management team with leaders from the PC industry," Pesatori stated. "Harry Copperman's credentials, leadership abilities, and broad experience will contribute significantly to meeting that goal.

 Previously, Copperman was president and chief executive officer of the Information Systems Group of JWP Inc.; president and chief operating officer of Commodore Business Machines; and vice president and general manager of Eastern Operations for Apple Computer. Earlier, he spent 20 years with IBM in a variety of sales and marketing management positions. Copperman holds a bachelor of science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rutgers University.
