 HARLEYSVILLE NATIONAL AND PNC FINANCIAL CONSUMMATE BRANCH PURCHASE
 HARLEYSVILLE, Pa., May 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Harleysville National Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: HNBC) and PNC Financial Corp (NYSE: PNC) jointly announced today that their respective subsidiaries have consummated the agreement, signed Jan. 2, 1992, for Harleysville National Bank & Trust Co., a wholly owned subsidiary of Harleysville National Corp., headquartered in Harleysville, to purchase four branch offices of Provident National Bank of Philadelphia.
 The branches acquired by Harleysville are located in Collegeville at 364 Main St.; Sellersville at 209 N. Main St.; and two sites in Quakertown, 224-228 W. Broad St., and Trainer's Corner Shopping Center, Routes 663 and 309. These offices will officially open as branch offices of Harleysville National Bank on Tuesday, May 26. The offices will continue to be run by the former Provident employees, now employees of Harleysville National.
 The acquisition extends Harleysville National Bank's reach into Bucks County with three new locations and expands to 12, with the Collegeville addition, its locations in Montgomery County. In addition, Harleysville has welcomed approximately 10,000 new customers, representing approximately $100 million in deposits. It is expected that HNC will also acquire approximately $15 million in consumer loans associated with these offices in the coming months.

 To welcome its new customers, Harleysville National is holding a Grand Reopening celebration on Friday, June 19, using the theme, "Come Aboard Harleysville National Bank; We've Added Four More Ships to Our Fleet." The bank is giving away a four-day cruise for two to the Bahamas in addition to runner-up prizes, including family memberships to the Baltimore Aquarium.
 Highlights of the June 19 celebration include a special appearance by Captain Noah (Sellersville: 10 a.m. to noon; Quakertown Broad Street: 12:30-2:30 p.m.; and Collegeville: 3-5 p.m.) and caricatures by professional artist Glenn Zimmer (Collegeville: 10 a.m.-noon; Quakertown Trainer's Corner: 12:30-2:30 p.m.; Quakertown Broad Street: 3-5 p.m.; and Sellersville 5:30-7:30 p.m.). Refreshments will be served at all four new offices. The public is cordially invited.
 Harleysville National Corp. was recently cited as the region's top ranking banking company (based on 1991 return on average assets) by the Philadelphia Inquirer. The bank also secured the 17th position in the U.S. Banker's list of the nation's "60 most-profitable banking companies." The ranking was based on average adjusted ROAA for the 1988-1991 period.
 Harleysville National Corp. is the parent of Harleysville National Bank & Trust Co., which has more than $450 million in assets and 15 locations throughout Montgomery and Bucks County and The Citizens National Bank of Lansford, which has $35 million in assets, located in Carbon County, Pa. Harleysville National expects to complete its acquisition of The Summit Hill Trust Company (Carbon County), with approximately $22 million in assets, by the first week of June 1992.
