HARISTON CORP. ISSUES UPDATE ON SUBSIDIARY METANETIX

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Hariston Corp. ("Hariston") announced that Metanetix Corp. ("Metanetix"), a 75 percent-controlled subsidiary of Hariston has completed the pilot stage evaluation of their proprietary metals extraction technology being utilized at the Kelley Mine in Butte, Mont. All testing and evaluation results obtained in conjunction with Kelley Resource Recovery Corp., the joint venture partner, have exceeded Metanetix commercial target ranges.
Metanetix has agreed to proceed directly to the full production stage, thereby eliminating the need for the pilot stage process. The 300 gallon per minute ("gpm") processing plant will be operational in June 1993, and Metanetix, pending receipt of all regulatory approvals, will expand the plant to 6,000 gpm within a one-year period.
The evaluation period has produced high purity metals from the water, including zinc, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese and calcium. All metals listed are being obtained, in terms of grade and quantity, within the specification requirements of Metanetix's defined target markets.
The technology selectively removes the metals in a grade and purity level for industrial applications, as well as for agricultural and pharmaceutical markets in North America and throughout the European market. With prices of the industrial metals varying between $0.50 to $1.50 per pound, the gross market value of the metals in the Kelley Mine is estimated to be in excess of $30 per 1,000 gallons of water. Kelley Resource Recovery Corp. estimates that the Kelley mine contains approximately 3.9 billion gallons of water, together with an estimated natural inflow of 6,000 gallons per minute. Metanetix is currently finalizing production contracts with several corporations for the metals produced by this process.
Metanetix will also focus on chelated metals as well as metal oxides production. During the initial development stage of the production plant, Metanetix will begin to employ the technology on the selective removal of rare earths. Based upon the tests conducted, the mineral content of the water being sustained, the processing plant being fully operational, and the marketing plan being carried out, Metanetix recognizes a feasible annual gross revenue in excess of $75 million in this sector.
Metanetix holds the exclusive global license to this proprietary metal recovery technology, as well as applications of the technology to selectively remove hazardous heavy metals in harbor, lake and ocean sediments, soils, industrial waste metal sludges, sewage sludges, and mining tailings.
