HARDEE'S TO HELP SPELL R-E-L-I-E-F TO HURRICANE VICTIMS
ROCKY MOUNT, N.C., Aug. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Moved by the widespread destruction in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew, Hardee's Food Systems, Inc., announced today it is launching a major relief effort to immediately help victims in Florida and Louisiana. The effort is similar to the successful one completed by the company following Hurricane Hugo two years ago.
"Our office employees, franchisees, restaurant workers and many of our vendors and local citizens are working together to provide comprehensive assistance to flow directly to people in the affected areas of Florida and Louisiana," said W. Maurice Bridges, Hardee's Director of Public Affairs in Rocky Mount, N.C. "We're working as fast as we can to help out at the local and national levels."
Locally, Hardee's, CSX Railroad, and Jackson Moving & Storage people will work jointly to box and ship several railroad cars of non-perishable items, clothing and building supplies to the disaster areas by the weekend. "We're gathering a team of hard-working disaster relief volunteers," said Bridges. "They will be on hand to accept items at the tobacco shed, along the CSX railroad tracts at NE Main Street in Rocky Mount on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 1-2, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The train will roll to its destinations later that evening."
"We believe this effort will be very successful as it is an easy way for our North Carolina citizens to involve themselves in the Hurricane Andrew relief program," said Bridges.
Another means of help from Hardee's was transporting members of the Southern North Carolina Baptist Relief Team to Miami last Tuesday on the Hardee's corporate jet. The team will return to the Hardee's hanger at the Rocky Mount Wilson Airport at approximately 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, August 29.
Concluded Bridges: "We're also urging people to make whatever monetary contribution they can afford during these tough times since people have to be helped for weeks and months following the initial effort. The funds can be sent to the State of Florida Relief Fund Office of the Governor, Tallahasee, Fla., 32399, or to the Louisiana Disaster Relief Fund, c/o Adventist Disaster Relief Agency, 12501 Old Columbia Pike in Silver Springs, Md."
Headquartered in Rocky Mount, N.C., Hardee's Food Systems, Inc., is the third largest fast food hamburger restaurant company in the world, operating over 4,000 restaurants in 40 states and 10 foreign countries. approximately 800 of the restaurants operate under the Roy Rogers trademark.
