HARDEE'S SIGNS GLOVER ADVERTISING & ASSOCIATES TO TARGET ADVERTISING/MARKETING ACTIVITIES TO ITS BLACK CONSUMERS

 ROCKY MOUNT, N.C., Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Hardee's Food Systems announced today that it has assigned Glover Advertising & Associates, Inc., of Bolingbrook, Ill., to direct advertising and marketing activities to its Black consumers. Although Hardee's has been pro-active in marketing to its Black users, this is the first "national" advertising agency signed to specialize in this target audience.
 Headed by James Glover, President and Chief Executive Officer, and Frederick W. Jackson, Executive Vice President, Managing Partner and Chief Operating Officer, GA&A is a newly formed company that specializes in marketing to Black consumers. The agency grew out of the combined talents of the Glover Group and Strategy Development Corporation, two Afro-American consumer marketing and communications companies.
 "Bringing top-notch people like Jim and Fred to our team is a major accomplishment for Hardee's," said Jerry Gramaglia, Hardee's Executive Vice President of Marketing. "They have a proven track record in fast- food. The fact that they also are experts in Black consumer marketing and communications is also a big plus. They are highly creative and innovative individuals."
 For almost four years, the Glover Group and Strategy Development Corporation pursued separate, but parallel courses. Each company focused on African-American consumer market business development for their respective clients. The long-time friendship of Glover and Jackson, and similar business goals provided an excellent platform for the merging of the companies, and the combining of skills and marketing/advertising expertise.
 The principals both began their careers with Young & Rubicam Advertising in New York where they also worked on accounts such as Gino's/Rustler's Restaurants, General Foods, Johnson & Johnson, Bristol- Myers, New York Telephone and Kentucky Fried Chicken.
 Glover later moved to DDB/Needham in Chicago where he developed award winning advertisements on the McDonald's account for about six years as Associate Creative Director. When the McDonald's account moved to Leo Burnett Advertising, Glover moved with it and worked on McDonald's account for another seven years as Vice President, Creative Director, but left to found the Glover Group.
 Jackson spent almost 13 years at Y&R before leaving to head the management team at Burrell Advertising in Chicago, working on the McDonald's account. Later, he moved to UniWorld Group-NYC, where he worked on the Burger King, Eastman Kodak and Coors Brewino?unts.

 Hardee's Food Systems, Inc., headquartered in Rocky Mount, N.C., operates a system of 4,000 company and franchise restaurants in 40 states and 10 foreign countries. Approximately 675 of the restaurants operate under the Roy Rogers trademark. Hardee's has expanded its hamburger and sandwich menu with fresh fried chicken, becoming the second largest chicken chain in the world. Glover Advertising operates offices in New York and Chicago.
