HANOVER FIRM RECEIVES LOAN FROM ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY FUND
HARRISBURG, Pa., June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Commerce Secretary Andrew T. Greenberg today announced the approval of $85,000 in state assistance from the Environmental Technology Loan Fund to help a York County company.
Hanover Packaging Co., of Hanover, Pa., will use the low-interest loan to purchase an automatic die cutter and straight-line gluer. The equipment will enable the company to manufacture folding cardboard cartons from recycled paper.
The company currently manufactures non-folding paper boxes. The project, at a total cost of $177,300, is expected to create four jobs.
"In Pennsylvania, reducing the need for landfill space is one of our greatest environmental challenges," Greenberg said. "To help meet the challenge, we're using the Environmental Technology Loan Fund to invest in recycling technologies that generate products with proven markets."
The Environmental Technology Loan Fund is financed through landfill fees collected by the state Department of Environmental Resources. The program is designed to stimulate the growth of Pennsylvania's recycling industry and to encourage the growth of markets for recycled goods.
The program's use is limited to recyclable materials from municipal waste and curb-side collections. Before individual projects are funded, markets for the recycled products must be clearly identified.
