HANNAFORD REPORTS SALES FOR OCTOBER

 SCARBOROUGH, Maine, Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Hannaford Bros. Co. (NYSE: HRD), Northern New England's largest food retailer, reported today that its sales and other revenues for the four weeks ended Oct. 30, 1993, were $153,271,000, an increase of 2.0 percent over the $150,198,000 reported for the same period a year ago.
 Sales and other revenues for the 43 weeks ended Oct. 30, 1993, were $1,691,874,000, up 1.0 percent over the $1,675,880,000 achieved during the first 43 weeks of 1992.
 Nineteen ninety-two results for the 43 week period include the sales from 34 Wellby Super Drug Stores which were sold to Rite Aid Corporation on May 27, 1992. Had the sales from these stores been excluded from 1992 results, sales and other revenues would have increased 3.2 percent.
