HANLEY-WOOD CREATES NEW INTERNET COMPANY.
Hanley-Wood, LLC (Washington, D.C.) has created a separate interactive company called ebuild.com. The new company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hanley-Wood which is itself owned by VS&A Communications Partners III (New York). Hanley-Wood said it will draw on its 24 years of experience in the residential building industry to create the definitive product guide serving the $150 billion home building products market. The project is funded by $20 million in capital arranged through Hanley-Wood, its parent and its bank group. A subsequent round of financing is scheduled for this summer. The site will launch in phases beginning in September and is expected to be completed in time for the "2001 National Association Home Builders" exposition Feb. 9-12, 2001.
Hanley-Wood president Frank Anton, who has been named ceo of ebuild.com, said ebuild's mission is to "use the Internet to transform the way manufacturers, distributors, builders, remodelers, subcontractors and consumers look for product information." The site will carry "thousands of residential building products from hundreds of manufacturers," Anton said.
Hanley-Wood said it is seeking partners for the venture and is currently in discussions about affiliations with other businesses in the building products industry.
