HAMMER KILLER MUM LOCKED UP; Frenzy after she binned her pills.
A DEPRESSED mum who bludgeoned her little daughter to death was yesterday ordered to be detained at Carstairs State Hospital.
Ann Dunn, 36, smashed five year-old Erin Gilmour's skull with a claw hammer and almost killed another girl of 10 in the frenzied attack.
A relative discovered the horror scene and when Erin's dad, Colin, arrived at the flat, neighbours prevented him from entering. After the bloodbath, Dunn took an overdose of drugs.
She told hospital staff: ``I killed them. I don't want to be here any more.''
The 10-year-old victim, who cannot be named, has made a remarkable recovery from horrific head injuries.
Dunn appeared pale and drawn at the High Court in Edinburgh as she was ordered to be detained at Carstairs indefinitely.
The court had previously heard that Dunn slid into depression after breaking up with Erin's father.
She stopped taking medication for neurotic depression because she did not think she needed it.
Dunn attacked the kids as they lay in bed at her home in Stonehouse, Lanarkshire, in September last year.
An upstairs neighbour heard blows and whimpering coming from the flat but took no action.
Dunn's brother-in-law, Scott McIntyre, found Erin dead and the second child covered in blood.
Dunn was in her bedroom, unconscious after taking an overdose of painkillers.
