HAMILTON IS STILL A 'WINNER'.

Byline: BYRON YOUNG

LEWIS HAMILTON will definitely be a winner with new team Mercedes this season - and more than once according to Ferrari rival Fernando Alonso.

The Spaniard delivered another massive snub to triple champion Sebastian Vettel as he again fingered the 28-year-old Brit as his strongest rival.

Even though Hamilton himself has written off his chances in 2013 after his surprise move to the growing German car giant, Alonso is more confident.

"I am sure he will be able to win," said the Ferrari ace. "He is a super good driver because he won every year with any car: he won in 2007 and 2008.

"In 2009 McLaren started around two seconds off the pace and Hamilton was able to win races and it was the same in 2010.

"Last year we also saw Nico Rosberg winning in China with Mercedes. So with Hamilton he will be able to win more than one race.

"Who is the one you have to keep an eye on? It is Hamilton - and it will still be Hamilton next year."
